ADDING VALUE: This hedgehog.
One Unfinished Story
The Circle's Official Mascot?
Nine years ago, Circle publicly asked whether a hedgehog could be their mascot.1 Nobody ever said no — and nobody ever said yes. The application just sat there while they built a whole blockchain. Now their chain is coming, and the hedgehog has come to finish the story.

"Can he be our new mascot?"
Rendered as it appeared that day — square avatar, arrow reply. Twitter wouldn't switch to circles until June 15, 2017. The question predates the shape of the platform it was asked on.

Sashimi. The hedgehog the whole internet met first.
Before Circle ever asked its question, a hedgehog in Hong Kong named Sashimi had already gone globally viral: her owner registered her tiny paw in Touch ID, and she unlocked an iPhone like it was nothing. The clip entered the GIF libraries of the internet — and months later, a Circle customer attached it while announcing they'd left PayPal for CirclePay. Circle's official account replied with five immortal words.
She passed biometric verification in 2016.

Answers prepared with the seriousness this instrument deserves. So, some.
Is this affiliated with Circle?
No. $HEDGE is community fan art of one public tweet from 2017. Circle Internet Group, Inc. did not endorse it, does not run it, and is presumably busy operating sixty billion dollars. We reproduce their logo solely to show you their own historical post, verbatim.
Did Circle really ask for a hedgehog mascot?
Yes. April 27, 2017, 1:35 PM, from @circle: "ADDING VALUE: This hedgehog. can he be our new mascot?" The post is still live — Exhibit 001 links straight to it. The quoted account was deleted; the question was not.
Who is Sashimi?
The hedgehog in the GIF that Circle's 2017 post was quoting — an internet-famous hedgehog from Hong Kong who went viral in 2016 for unlocking an iPhone with her registered paw print (HuffPost, Vice, Inverse all covered it). She is the reason the mascot question exists at all, and the museum's third exhibit is hers. Our mascot is HedgeHog — his own hedgehog, carrying that torch forward. Sashimi's real photos belong to her family, and we keep it that way. The lore honors her — the brand doesn't borrow her.
When and where does $HEDGE launch?
On Arc mainnet, day one — Circle has said mainnet opens this summer. The venue and contract address will be published on this page and on X at the moment of deployment, and nowhere else first. Anything claiming to be $HEDGE before that announcement is an impostor wearing a worse hat.
What is the utility?
Hedgehog. On a chain purpose-built so that nothing surprising can ever happen to your money, the hedgehog's mandate is to be the surprise.
Will it go up?
Unknown and unknowable. It is a memecoin: it can go to zero, and most do. Spend only what you can lose with a straight face. The hedgehog offers no financial advice — he is a hedgehog.
Who is the team?
The community. The launch mechanics publish in full on deploy day: locked liquidity, 0% tax, no team allocation, everything verifiable on-chain. No strategic dump reserve — the museum doesn't sell its own collection.
Why should this one work?
It probably shouldn't — that's the honest answer for every memecoin. What this one has: a real, verifiable, nine-year-old invitation from the company that built the chain. Lore you can click is rarer than you'd think.
